Julie and Zach’s wedding at 3 Spears Ranch in Dubois, WY was full of movement, texture, and thoughtful design. Their day celebrated the rugged beauty of Wyoming while incorporating unique colors and sculptural, textural florals. From the bouquet to the reception tables, the chartreuse, plum, and lavender palette created a contemporary, stylized look that perfectly echoed the rugged ridges surrounding the ranch.

The Vision

Julie and Zach designed a wedding that felt modern, fresh, and full of Western spirit, perfectly reflecting the landscape of 3 Spears Ranch. Their bold chartreuse, plum, and lavender palette popped against the natural greens and reds of the foothills. Airy, sculptural shapes and textural blooms echoed the latest wedding floral trends, creating a seamless flow from ceremony to reception. Every detail showcased their love for the ranch while embracing elevated, editorial-style florals ideal for a Wyoming setting.

The Floral Story

Julie’s bouquet perfectly reflected a modern, airy, and sculptural approach to wedding florals. Bells of Ireland, lavender and white lisianthus, dahlias, bee balm, and cascading amaranth created movement and dimension. Chartreuse and plum accents provided a bold, expressive palette while complementing the natural beauty of 3 Spears Ranch. The bouquet set the tone for a day celebrating texture, color, and an elevated contrast to the Wyoming landscape.

For the ceremony, Julie and Zach stood against the rugged cliffs, framed by ground florals that seemed to naturally grow from the landscape. Smokebush added deep plum tones, while clouds of Russian sage, scabiosa, dahlias, bee balm, and cosmos contributed to texture and motion. The sculptural framed ceremony florals brought an elevated beauty while blending seamlessly with the wide-open ranch landscape.

Under a white canopy, the reception tables continued the same airy, textural style. Centerpieces of white dahlias, lisianthus, lavender blooms, and lush greenery echoed the chartreuse and plum palette. Elements from the ceremony arch were repurposed at the table ends, creating visual continuity and sculptural interest.

In the Details

Julie and Zach’s wedding stood out for its bold, modern chartreuse and plum palette—uncommon for ranch venues. Throughout the wedding, the florals adopted an Ikebana-inspired approach, emphasizing sculptural lines, asymmetry, and space rather than lush abundance. Elements were thoughtfully arranged — paying homage to the Japanese art of ikebana, where each stem and bloom is placed with intention, and negative space (ma) becomes part of the composition. Paired with airy, textural blooms, the design brought a curated, contemporary feel to 3 Spears Ranch. Custom table styling with botanical linens, green glassware, and tied lilac napkins echoed the refined shapes of the arrangements. Together, the details transformed the surrounding hills into a gallery of color, structure, and movement — perfectly balancing modern design with the natural beauty of Wyoming’s landscape.
